The background
Streetkids International intends to help orphans in Tanzania in the long term. This means also to help them to cope with their lives on their own.
The solution: a qualified occupational training.
We are the owner and user of a 5 km² development area on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam together with our co-operation partner YWAM.
Here, a training and production shop with 12 training places in which children and young people are trained to become tailors, joiners or metal workers is built.

Nach der Auf- und Ausbauphase, Beschaffung von Ausbildungsmaterial und Schulung des handwerklich-pädagogischen Personals beginnen wir im Januar 2007 den Betrieb.
Die Lehrwerkstätten werden die Herstellung von Produkten und Dienstleistungen lehren, die auf dem lokalen Markt nachgefragt werden. Die Werkstätten werden im Rahmen der Ausbildung auch Produkte herstellen und anbieten.
Die Ausbildung dauert 24 Monate und ist für die auszubildenden Waisen kostenfrei. Sie verpflichten sich aber, das Projekt für mindestens drei Jahre im Anschluss an ihre Berufsausbildung zu unterstützen.
Durch Schaffung von Überkapazitäten und deren Bereitstellung an externe Jungendliche wird ein kontinuierlicher Rückfluss an Mitteln gewährt, der die Zukunft der Ausbildungstätte dauerhaft sichert.

After the construction and expansion phase, the purchase of the training material and the training of the skilled, pedagogical staff, we will start operations in January 2008.
The training center provides training in the manufacturing of products and rendering of services which are on demand in the local market. The training centers also produce and offer products in the course of training.
During a 12-month course, the orphans are trained free of charge. However, they undertake to support the house in which they grew up for at least three years after their training.
By creating excess capacities and offering them to external students, a continuous backflow of funds will take place which will secure the future of the training center.
